Is anyone watching the opening ceremony??
Honestly speaking Im not a huge fan of sports or anything like that but I was watching the opening ceremony cos a Qatari friend of mine called me from Doha to make sure that I was watching the ceremony and even said that they will be testing me on it later. LOL
But seriously there were quite a few embarassing moments for many people. To list a few:
1. Sheikh I dont know who Al Thani - he started off his speech in Arabic and then moved to English. Bad mistake dude. If you cant do English well then just dont. Stick to your mother tongue instead of semi spelling out words like con - grat - you - late and beebol and brosberity.
2. Majda Al Roumy - we saw that trip Majda. Good thing you have Jose holding on to your hand otherwise it would have been a nasty tumble in front of millions of people.
3. Mr. Captain of the Qatari Horse Riding Team - WOW!!!! Dude you got lucky. The horse slipped almost at the top. That was some true effort placed to get the horse right to the top. Couldve made it easier and had slip-free stuff. Well done though.
4. The whole show - im sorry. Whats with the Indian movie??

The organisers had to leave at least one third of the show out because of the weather. It was raining non stop. That's why the horse slipped, and that's why the "Qatari boy" had to spend 20 minutes doing nothing and looking like an idiot on a boat that didn't move.
Yes, the way it was finally presented - it was BS. I agree with you. But not bad for Doha. Trust a country with 2 days of rain average per year to have a rainy day for the ceremony! :P :P
